A few days ago I did Top 5 episodes of Breaking Bad list. As I like making lists I thought I would do another list, showing my favourite Matt Smith Doctor Who episodes.
1. The Eleventh Hour
This has to be not just my favourite Matt Smith episode, but my all round favourite episode of all time. After its broadcast, during the week we had to wait for The Beast Below I watched this episode 8 times. Moffat and the gang did such a great job, basically turning a TV show into a brand TV show and still calling it “Doctor Who”. That for me will be the reason that I love this one so much. 11/10. (see what I did there?)
2. Time Of Angels/Flesh and Stone
Almost as good as Blink in my opinion. Yes, look at me having a fucking opinion. Just as intense and thrilling as Blink. Just obviously, the story wasn’t as strong. But still a 10/10 two parter.
3. The Impossible Astronaut/Day Of The Moon
Truly, truly epic. The locations, the story, the Silence! All of it put together so well. I’m surprised this isn’t up there with the best of the best because it really is. And what a cliffhanger at the end of BOTH episodes. Oh and also it’s something to make you shit yourself, particullay at the end of the first part for sure.
4. The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang
I like this a lot. It’s different, it’s damn right original. What other WHO writer thought of something like this before? Loads of the Doctor’s enemies in one room. Except this time they’re the ones saving the universe. The only people who have thought of having this kind of scenario in an episode are 10 year old kids who don’t know what a budget is yet. Moffat just made their dreams come true, brilliantly. 10/10
5. The Name Of The Doctor
I don’t know if it’s because this episode has left so many unanswered questions that will be answered or maybe the fact that I just did actually like it, The Name of The Doctor left us on such a high for the 50th, after such a disappointing series and what a cliffhanger! I know many people hate it, I understandably see that someone would. So maybe this isn’t one of Matt Smith’s best. But right now, to me, it sure as hell feels like it is. 10/10
